Important Notes
For amounts below Rs 1 lakh, compounding is capped at simple interest (5% p.a. for reporting, 10% p.a. for others).
Compounding amount cannot exceed 300% of the sum involved.
The compounding amount may be capped at Rs 2,00,000 per contravention at the compounding authority's discretion (para II(vi)). This estimate does not apply that cap.
Where the guarantee was issued for raising loans invested back into India, the amount may be trebled. This estimate does not apply that.

Maximum statutory penalty under Section 13: up to 3x the amount involved, or Rs 2 lakh if not quantifiable, plus Rs 5,000/day for continuing violations.
